I was assigned a dietitian by my GP to help me loose weight this time last year, but was a naughty gal and only ever went to see her once and never went back (my heart just wasnt in it)

But I am going to go back to my gp tomorrow and grovel to see this dietitian again as she was good, I am also going to ask my gp for some Xenicol? has anyone taken them yet?

My gp recomended I try them last year, but I heard what they did and got scared lol, but I am desperate now, so will give them a try.

Never heard of them honey - what do they do?

I have nearly lost two stones but have another few to go to just get into the overweight category. Anything that will help me to beat the bulge is welcome!

apparently these xenicol are fantastic, I have a few friends on them at the moment.

But the thing that scared me ...... is they help break down the fat your body has stored and make your wee and poo orange and while on them you have to eat a vertually fat free diet and if you eat too much fat 1 day they will give you cronic diorhea

One friend who was on them was really naughty and ate a take away and she darnt leave her house the next day and she had it so bad she thought she would mess herself  thats the part that scares me.

But as my gp says, that fear should be enough to stop you being naughty.

I am going to go and see my Doctor tomorrow Mand and see if he will prescribe them for me. I have been really good fat wise at the moment and if it helps me keep to my new low fat ways it will be worth it hun x

Yes deffo worth it, i am really wishing Id stuck to it a year ago when I first had the chance.

As you have already lost some weight by yourself, you shouldnt have any probs getting them as your gp will see you are serious about it.

Last year my gp made me loose 10lb by myself to prove to her I was serious, before I got the help. although i did loose that 10lb, I wasnt really serious enough, I wanted to loose weight just couldnt get motivated enough to do it.

I have to now, I dont fit in my wedding dress  so will be getting married naked if It dont fit come july lol, as both BJ and my mum have said I cant have another dress after the price of this one.

Wraps!

You will have to have lots of those sea weed wraps Mand. I brought some Dove firming gel hoping it might do the same thing! I also brought some of that sun kissed one they are advertising hoping to make myself look a little less Morticia from the Adams Family - but I am very pale skin and I turned the colour of an Ompah Lompah! I walked into the kitchen and Paul asked me why I was orange!

Charming hey!

I tried them before my wedding, and was offered them a few months ago. things is you are right, any extra fat and you literaly know about it!

it did no good for me - but I did so much swimming at the time I built up muscle which weighs more than fat!

But if you are ready then go ahead and try it - my problem is I have no will power and even with xenical you need will power!

I read in the Nursing Times that some larger BOOTS stores are trailing selling them without prescription. The pharmacist weighs you etc. But ir really only is in the very Large Boots stores.

Mand, they are abot £40 trade price so if you were to buy them you are looking at about £60 for 84 tablets.
The side effects are gruesome and at one point doctors had to be sure you were commited to weight loss before prescribing them. If you are going to be on that sort of low fat diet that these tablets dictate I think you would loose weight anyway so in which case you would nt need the tablets. If that makes sense.

There are other prescribable medications that help with loosing weight that work by making you feel physically full so you dont want to eat but cant think of name at moment. Might be worth discussing all options.

Good luck from somebody who needs to do something weight wise but has no will power either!

Hope you get on ok

Yes my gp mentioned these as well last time, I think they are called Reductil, but due to me having a bad history of high blood presure Im not allowed to have them :(

Whooooa @ £60 for the tablets, thats ridiculous, I could no way afford to pay that. Luckily my gp is real good and knows I am serious, I can loose weight I just seem to do so well and then get to a point and no matter how hard I try, cant shift any more. That was when she sugested them to me.
So dont think I will have too much trouble getting them (Fingers Crossed)

One of the parents who's children I look after has been on these now for a while and she has lost loads, but yes eat too much fat and you know about it.
I have at times had the children at weekends as she has done something stupid and got the trots, she used to them now and close to coming off due to loosing what she needed to.

She is now dreading going back to ordinary eating in fear of putting it back on again.

She's so much healther for it though as well so I really hope she don't and she has the will power to eat a healthy diet and stay stable.

Hope they work for you if you really think you need them.

Help only another full day before my first weigh in!!!!
You have such a great motivation with your wedding so close you can do it.

You will be more than welcome Mand - the Ompah Lompah is not for me - though it has given some people a laugh today who thought that I had been eating way too many carrots.
