Question Cleft lip and pallett?

Hi all, my best friends sister has just had a baby boy who has been born with cleft lip and pallett, it
has been a massive shock to them all as wasn't picked up in scans, although I think this can be difficult.

Just wondered if any of you have had any experinces with this either yourselves or friends as she is understandabley scared and now faces going through two quite major operations with him to rebuild his little face.

Would love to hear any help/advice from anyone so I can pass this onto her, I think she feels a bit lonely and frightened at the moment for her little one.

Thanks guys
Love Kate xxx

Bianca was born with a cleft chin and bottom lip....not quite the same I know but we found the " cleft lip and palate Association" were a great help.
There is also a yahoo group called "CLAPA parents", which is just like CHD-UK but for parents with children with cleft problems..................
If your friend wants to e-mail me I'd be more than happy to help.
Bianca has had some surgery for her chin etc at GOS....the results from this sort of surgery are amazing and have improved massively over the years.
I'm sure it was a massive shock for your friend...it was for us!
